In regards to breastfeeding the amount of herbal constituents coming through to the breast milk from taking the cough sirop a tablespoon a day is minimal to zero and also safe for children once they are on solids and have developed a mature digestive system.

Dear Everyone,
Please come and support the Dalston Eastern Curve Garden this
coming Friday 10th March

The garden is under threat as Hackney Council wants to sell off the land to developers.
On Friday the Mayor of Hackney will be visiting the garden and Marie and Brian need as many people using the garden to convince the Mayor that it is widely used by the community.
Come and have lunch and a cuppa or just hang out to support this wonderful space in the heart of Dalston.

The Spring Returns!
Can you feel the little green shoots starting to rise up... come join Hedge Herbs and Gone Wild Herbs for the first herbal outing of the year, with a guided plant walk on Walthamstow Marshes, on Saturday 12th March, 12noon-2pm
We will meet at The Mill, 7-11 Coppermill Lane, E17 7HA - 11.45am.
You need to book a place in advance - call Rasheeqa on 07784 506 494 or email rasheeqa@hedgeherbs.org.uk
Come ready for opening your senses to the landscape and its inhabitants, and to hear and share good stories of the healing plants. We'll spend part of the walk focusing on one plant and learning about the Goethean science approach to studying nature, where we use all of our sense perceptions to gather information. Those of you who attended our herb tastings at the Curve Garden last summer will know something of this. We will share knowledge of traditional & current uses of the plants we find, their history & folklore and how to prepare them into remedies.
We are offering a programme of monthly walks through the spring & summer seasons this year - see www.hedgeherbs.org.uk for more info and dates...

Happy New Year! and News…..
It has been a long winter and we are slowly crawling out of our winter hibernation.
Steph has given birth to her daughter Florence on 4th December, who has been brewing over the summer and we are sure has soaked up all that herbal knowledge from our gatherings at the Curve garden and beyond. She's a real beauty.
Unfortunately I am not wearing my super purple (medicinal) mushroom jump suit here, but I am very happy instead! |
We are starting to plan new events and herb walks for spring and summer with Nat from Hackney Herbal at the Cordwainer's Garden, another season with Dalston Eastern Curve Garden, and a community medicine making and masterclass with Made In Hackney in Stoke Newington.
We will let you know dates and times when everything is confirmed. Watch this space!
In the meantime much warmth to you till spring arrives.

Last Session Harvest Party Celebration….and Tasting of Fire Cider!!!
Thank you all for coming in such a large number and bringing a wonderful sharing mood, a huge Reishi mushroom, unknown herbs (to us) from Portugal and a lovely warm banana cake - yum - and many more foodie goodies.
We tasted Meadowsweet tincture (the vodka gave us a good kick), and dug up the famous Fire Cider!
It was very surprising because the fire cider tasted very different from how it smelled.
A nice warming spicy throat experience, but the smell was - mmmh - hard to describe…..some mentioned gherkin water…..
We were wondering if the smell came largely from the horseradish root that was in there?!?
The Curve garden will leave mounted photographs of our sessions and workshops exhibited in the garden (Herbal Health Bar, large greenhouse, toilets!) up for another couple of weeks, so have a look in case you are around, you might be featured.
We hope you had a such a lovely time as we had, and will be in touch soon about more events we are planning.
